Clinic by the Bay is San Francisco's Volunteers in Medicine clinic -- the 82nd VIM clinic in the country and the first in Northern California. We are a private, nonprofit medical clinic that provides free health care for working uninsured adults residing in the Excelsior neighborhood (94112), in Visitacion Valley / Portola (94134), and in Daly City (94014, 94015). As part of the national network of Volunteers in Medicine clinics, we engage retired and practicing doctors, nurses, and other volunteers to provide compassionate, high quality health care, free of charge.
The clinic does not rely on government funding and does not accept any insurance. Clinic by the Bay is 100% supported by private foundation, business and individual gifts, plus in-kind contributions of professional services and supplies.
Our mission is to understand and serve, with dignity and respect, the health and wellness needs of the medically underserved in the San Francisco Bay Area. Additionally, we provide meaningful opportunities for volunteerism and civic engagement to provide a caring medical home to our working uninsured neighbors.
The "Culture of Caring" is the heart and soul of our clinic. We believe in the inherent worthiness and dignity of each person and are committed to kindness, respect and patience in all of our interactions. We care for the whole person, not only their illness.
