Clinic by the Bay’s Food Pharmacy, in partnership with Food is Medicine Collaborative, is a comprehensive, clinically-based food program that provides patients experiencing financial burden and chronic metabolic conditions with the products, resources, and skills necessary to achieve optimal metabolic health. Working hand in hand with our patients, we aim to prevent and manage chronic illness, while also addressing the socioeconomic factors that may initially lead to poor health outcomes.

Designed as a farmers market-style experience, Food Pharmacy allows eligible patients to select from a variety of fresh produce, healthy pantry staples, and other nutritious foods from our partner Arcadio’s Produce that best meet their household's needs and cultural preferences. Food Pharmacy is held on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month at the Clinic from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

To learn more about this program please call the Clinic at (415) 405-0222 and ask for the Food Pharmacy Coordinator.

CalFresh Application Assistance

CalFresh is a state-funded program that provides monthly food benefits to low-income individuals and families. Qualified members are given an EBT card, which acts as a debit card and can be used at various local grocery stores and farmers markets to purchase groceries. The amount of benefits a household receives is dependent on household size, income, and monthly expenses, such as housing and utilities. Members of the Food Security team can assist patients in submitting their applications to their local counties.

EatSF Project: Vouchers 4 Veggies

The Food Voucher program is a initiative to help our patients better access healthy food. Participants are typically given monthly vouchers (ranging from $20 to $40) to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, and other healthy foods. Vouchers can be spent at participating local grocery stores, corner stores, and farmers' markets within San Francisco.
