As a Reception Volunteerfor our Food Pharmacy Program, you will be one of the first individuals to welcome patients into the clinic. Responsibilities include tracking patient attendance, assisting with patient check-in, supporting clinic flow, and helping the volunteer team with other essential administrative tasks. Volunteers play an important role in creating a welcoming and organized environment for both patients and staff.
Note: The role is ONLY available to active volunteers!

Greeting: Welcoming patients and visitors into the clinic in a friendly & professional manner
Scheduling: Check-in patients for their food pharmacy appointment on Athena and mark their attendance on the attendance spreadsheet. Mark patients as no-shows if they do not attend food pharmacy appointments. Schedule any appointments that the patients may need during clinic days.
Communication: Answering phone calls, taking detailed messages as needed, making appointment reminder calls, responding to patient inquires about the Clinic, and providing healthcare resources
Data entry: Support with inputting patient vitals into Athena throughout the day.
Office Management: Keeping reception area clean and tidy, sanitizing area as needed, supporting with any materials needed for the day.

At least 18 years of age
Vaccinated for Covid
Can provide proof of a negative TB test within the last 6 months
Can commit to a minimum of 6 consecutive months volunteering (two, four hour shifts per month)
Can commit to in person orientation and trainings at 35 Onondaga Ave, San Francisco
Additional 20 hours of reception shift experience on top of required reception/EMR training
Comfortable learning basic conversational and speaking Spanish

Confidentiality: Understanding and adherence to HIPAA regulations
Strong Communication skills
Ability to maintain professional etiquette during phone calls
Comfortability using interpreting software to communicate with patients who speak a different language
